The Collection of Numerical Discourses
3,872 suttas arranged into 11 nipātas (books or divisions), depending on the number of Dhamma items referenced in them. Each book is divided again into groups called vaggas which usually contain ten suttas.
The Aṅguttara Nikāya number of suttas is based on Bhikkhu Bodhi's total. The text itself suggests there are 9,557 suttas although many of these are repeated, with variations, throughout the nikāya.
Compared to the other nikāyas, the suttas are more orientated to the lay community.
