Sutta Nipāta - Section of the Suttas

The Sutta Nipāta contains 70 suttas, divided into 5 chapters. Mostly in verse with some prose.

1. Uraga Vagga - The Chapter on the Serpent. 12 suttas.

2. Cūla Vagga - The Minor Chapter. 14 suttas.

3. Mahā Vagga - The Great Chapter. 12 suttas.

4. Atthaka Vagga - The Chapter of the Eights / The Chapter of Octads. 16 suttas.

5. Parayana Vagga - The Chapter on the Way Beyond / The Way to the Far Shore. 16 suttas.

Let them be capable and sincere, very sincere,

easy to speak to, gentle and humble;

content and unburdensome,

unbusied, living lightly,

alert, with senses calmed,

courteous, not fawning on families.

Let them not do the slightest thing

that others might blame with reason.

May they be happy and safe!

May all beings be happy!"
